On Thursday night, I was lucky enough to go to Ed Sheeran’s concert as I was given tickets for Christmas last year. I went with my friend Sarah and twin sister Magali and so, at about 4pm, we went over to Sarah’s house to get ready with our outfits, hair and makeup.
Sarah’s dad very kindly drove us to ANZ stadium where the concert was being held in Sydney and when we had gotten into the venue we bought some food; pizza and a bottle of coke, for dinner as we hadn’t eaten yet. When we entered the actual stadium I was shocked and amazing at how big it was, especially compared to Jessica Mauboy’s concert. We found our seats and were excited by the stage that was blue and covered in divide symbols, and we were actually a pretty good distance from the stage considering the size of the stadium.
We ate our food as we listened to Missy Higgins who was one of the supporting acts that was before Ed. She was really good and played the piano as she sang which was nice.
At 8:45pm, the lights dimmed and Ed simply walked onto the stage surrounded by security and everyone, included myself, screamed with joy! He started off with ‘Castle on the Hill’ and continued to sing all his other hits, particularly from his newest album ‘Divide’. It was amazing how he didn’t have a band, he only used a loop to create the background music and he was so casual and funny when he talked to the audience. My favourite song that he sung was ‘Galway Girl’ as ever since ‘Divide’ came out I had loved that song and knew all the lyrics, including the rapping verses, and it was really cool to experience him performing it.
To end the wonderful night he sang ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ and it was so great to listen to him rap so fast in the verses. It was so sad when it ended, the night had felt really quick and I wanted him to keep singing all of his songs from every album! Sarah’s dad kindly took us home and we got home at about 12am. Unfortunately, I had school the next day but the concert was totally worth me being tired for the whole of Friday and I had Ed’s songs in my head all day which was good 🙂 Thanks for a great night, Ed ❤
