My New Year’s Resolutions

December 31, 2017

Today is the last day of 2017 and everybody is working extra hard to finish off things in this year so they can start new tasks next year with a clean slate and a clear mind. Like most people, I have written myself a list of new year’s resolutions to try to better myself in 2018 and have a more productive and ultimately better year than 2017. So here is a list of my new year’s resolutions and please feel free to comment your own, I’m interested to know them 🙂

Write a Journal:
Writing a journal is a simple way of letting out certain feelings or keeping a record of particular events in your life. I want to write one consistently next year whenever I really need to get something off my chest as it lets out my emotions in a sensible way and whenever I look back on my journal entries I feel like that emotional event is behind me.

Get Over 80% on all Tests and Assignments:
Setting yourself a goal for work or school is perfect to prepare yourself for the year. I chose to try and get over 80% on all tests and assignments as in senior year 80% is known as the new pass percentage (80 is the new 50, they say) and I also want to motivate myself to do well at school as I need a high ATAR to become an environmental lawyer.

Do Exercise Everyday:
It is important to do a lot of exercise to stay healthy and I really want to motivate myself to do exercise everyday in 2018. Whether it’s a 5 minute simple workout or a hard core hour workout, I want to get in the habit of doing some form of exercise everyday as I will feel and look more healthy.

Cook/Bake at Least Once a Week:
I enjoy cooking/baking but I can never really find the time and so I usually only make something for a special occasion every once a while. Next year, I want to cook/bake at least once a week so I can become better at making food and experiment with new tastes and recipes, whilst having a lot of fun.

Read a Book at Least Once a Month:
I love reading books but, annoyingly, I’m one of the slowest readers ever and I need a lot of motivation to read as I get caught up doing other things such as being on technology. I hope that in 2018 I can read a book at least once a month and minimise my very long list of books I want to read!

I hope everyone has had a happy, successful 2017 and you will have an amazing 2018. Happy New Year!
