How to get the Splits

August 24, 2017

I decided to make an individual post for doing the splits as I found out some more split stretches/ways to get the splits and I wanted to go into detail on how to get them. Before attempting any of these it would be a good idea to warm up but it isn’t essential as these are technically warm ups. Also I’m aware that a lot of them are the same as my warm up post but I wanted to keep all the split stretches in the one place.

Oversplit Stretches:
Oversplit stretches are good to help you get your splits or go even further if you already have them. You can use a block or any other object that you can get your foot on comfortably for getting your oversplit (I used my rolled up yoga mat). For the front legs, try to get your entire back leg on the ground and for your back legs, try to lift up your knee off the ground. For the middle split oversplit stretches, try to get the leg that isn’t elevated entirely on the floor (I’m aware that I’m not even close as getting middle splits, for me, is the hardest).

I have always wanted to do a split but I haven’t done it, so this is so helpful! I’ll start doing the stretches tomorrow and start practicing. Thank you for making this post!
